Greetings warriors! The following text document contains all of the messages that have been posted in the first Warriors Guild folder. I say first because we have already filled the first folder in less than two months!
The dates range from February 23rd, 1994 (the date the club was founded) though April 18, 1994. In the future, I will continue to archive posts in the Warriors Guild folders and make them available as AOL files.
The Warriors Guild welcomes new members and pertinent posts. Located in the ôFlight Simsö area of the PC Games Message Board, the Guild folders contain fiction, hints, club business and more. The Guild has been highly successful. In addition to many members and a multitude of posts, literally dozens of files, unavailable on AOL, have been exchanged among the members. If you find these posts to be of interest and youÆd like to join the Warriors Guild, e-mail me, Highlan332.
The first Guild member to be inducted into the Stellar Guard is Chief
XWAce. On March 5, in response to my request for more fiction, he wrote a
2,436-word story! Damned impressive. A Guardsman is a member who, when told
to jump, doesn't argue. He asks, how high. XWAce has shown that he is
willing to work hard for this club and for you, his fellow members. Join me
in congratulating him!

Subj: We need files...
Date: 94-03-08 22:06:41 EDT
From: Highlan332
One of the things that I'd like o see come out of this club is a
distribution of files. I have already mailed many of the X-Wing players a
mission that I created using XMB 2.0. We don't need to circulate files that
are already available on AOL. If anyone has cheat files, saved games, X-Wing
missions, editors, etc. that aren't available in the files area, mail them to
me and I'll e-mail them to the members of the club, making sure that you
receive the promotion points. As far as I know, I am the only one who has
mailed out a file so far, let's change that.

Subj: Update Your Games
Date: 94-03-08 22:07:08 EDT
From: Highlan332
When you joined, you provided a list of sims you own. When you buy new
ones, be sure to post the information here, so that we can update your
information. I use the information when I send out mail related to a
particular game. If, for instance, you don't let us know you own X-Wing, you
won't be mailed any missions. Please keep us posted as to any changes.

Subj: One Post/Week Minimum
Date: 94-03-08 22:07:40 EDT
From: Highlan332
Warriors, remember that you are required to post at least one message
here a week or notify me if that is going to be a problem. If you don't
place anything here, we don't know if you're READING anything either. This
club is about participating not just joining and then falling silent.
Failing to post for long periods effectively eliminates any possibility of
promotion since you are adding little to the enjoyment of your cohorts.
When you do post, don't just say "Hi" to meet the requirement. At the
very least, tell us what you have been achieving in your favorite sim. Post
a little fiction, answer a question or something.
In addition, be sure to read all my posts. I don't write them for my
own enjoyment. Often, they contain club changes or important information,
such as this post. If I have posted something here and you didn't see it,
that's your fault.
Those who are contributing their time and effort to the club, you have
my thanks. Urge all your fellow Guild members to do the same.

Subj: Guidelines Change
Date: 94-03-08 22:09:02 EDT
From: Highlan332
Several members are nearly due for promotion. I am proud of them all.
Soon, some of them will be applying for promotion to the officer ranks. The
following change to the Guidelines concerns the officer ranks:
________________________________________________
When a member has served the required time and earned enough points to
become an officer, that is the rank of Ensign/Lieutenant, he will ask the
Grand Admiral for the Officer's Candidacy Test. He will be e-mailed the test
and will e-mail the Grand Admiral the answers upon completion. Successfully
completing the test with a score of 100% is required to earn the blue sash of
a Guild officer. Those who fail to meet these standards will be informed
that they did not pass the test and will be allowed to re-test in one week.
________________________________________________
Please update your guidelines document with this information.
The change is being made to provide a degree of respect for the officer
ranks. Additionally, officers in the Guild should have to meet higher
standards. An officer should be able to represent the club which requires a
thorough knowledge of club history, focus and Guidelines.
The candidacy test is not complete at this time, but it will not be
difficult for those who take the time to read the guidelines and who
regularly read posts in the Guild folder.

XWAce, I have Wing Commander Deluxe on CD and haven't had the same

when I take my machine off of turbo, I am able to play the game fine at 10

I was just reading through the recent club postings in my log file when I
noticed the message from Grand Admiral Highlander in which I had been
inducted into the greatly esteemed Stellar Guard! A thousand thanks!
I am also aware however, that one member does not an honor guard make. I
call out to all my fellow Guild members -- serve your fellow members well and
join me in the Stellar Guard so that together we can keep the Admirality safe
from harm and make the Guild an organization that people are not only a part
of but is a part of them as well!

From: JURIJ
Here is a short story I wrote today. Please read it and enjoy it. Feel free
to make any comments. It is 606 words long.
The blind sided
SWOOOSH!!!!! A x-wing flew past cadet Spiff of the empire. It has
been one week since he joined and he is already in one of the most important missions of all time. The empire put out all of their pilots for this mission as did the rebels. Spiff knew that death was near becouse he was a rookie in a expert fight. He sped up his tie hopeing to catch up with the x-wing. Fwaat fwaat!!! "OH my god. Somebody is shooting at me. I'm gonna die I'm gonna die." shouted spiff. "Calm down gamma three." " I'm hit. Ahhhhhh!!!" It ended right there. Spiff had died.
Whoosh!!!! X-wing red one flew by. "Yyyeeeeeehhhaaaaahhh! " shouted Hack. " Anotherone goes down. " Hack was a little more confident then spiff was. He also was strong in the force. But not that strong. BAAAAMMMM!!!! Hack was destroyed. The wreckage flew past our hero of the story. JURIJ. Jurij was a young humanoid from the distant and now destroyed planet of Allderaan. He was a young hotshot pilot. He was one of the people who where in the battle of yavin. "Come On." he shouted as he shot at a tie. "WAAAAAAHHHHHWWW!!!"
"Great. my artoo unit is down." hhe souted. "Fly home red two." screamed a man on the other end of the line. "A-Alright." The rebels where certianly out gunned and out numbered.
EEEOOOOOO. Another two star destroyers arrived. Jurij knew that it was over for the rebellion. He prpared to go into hyperspace. He couldn't. There was a star destroyer blocking his path. Now he had to fight. "Time to die." he said. He started flying towards the star destroyers. He fired 3 photon torpedos at it. Pow! Pow! Pow! Boom! "I did it. I destroyed it."
"Nice shot red two. Now fly home." " I can't. I am still blocked." he shouted. More rebel ships aarrived. The table was turning and victory seemed to be going towards the rebellion. "Now. They get theirs." he wispered. He flew toward the tie bomber. Whoo Whoo Whoo!! His lasers hit the tie bomber and destroyed it. Boom!!! Jurij saw out of the corner of his eye laser fire coming towards him.
POW!!! Crash!!!! The laser fire flew through the glass on the side of his x-wing and went out the other. "I'm - I'm still alive." EOOOOOOOO. The amount of oxygen in the ship went down to zero. Jurij reached for his air mask. He put it on. Then he turned it on. "Air." he shouted in relief. Now there were only a few ships left. 430. "I have to live. I have to." he said. "Red two fly home NOW." said the flight leader. " It's not over till it is over" he said. "Fine stay. But you will die if you do." said red one. Now Jurij flew towards the last star destroyer. He only had three photon torpedos left. SHOO. Shoo. Shoo. He fired them all.
BAAAAMMM!! It was destroyed. Now there was only a ton of ties left. What was this? They were flying away.
"YEEEEEEHHHHAAAAAAHHH!" he shouted. "All ships return home." said somebody at the other end of the radio. He warped into hyperspace and left. As he flew into the docks he saw tons of people waiting for him. As hhe opened the hatch people screamed.
"YAAAAAAAAAAAA!" He knew he did a great job. What was this? Admeral Ackber was even their. As he got off the x-wing he was awarded a medel of honer for destroying so many ships. THis was the proudest moment of his life.

From: Leroy W397
Since we had a discussion on DOOM earlier, here's one code I didn't see
listed. When in map mode (TAB key), type in "iddt". What tthis will do is
show you the complete layout of the level, kind of like the computer map.
The only problem is, the entire level is lit up, not just the areas you have
been before, so it's kind of hard to tell where you've been. Typing it in
again shows the locations of all the monsters on the level, but not what
kind. Typing it in a third time resets to the original map.

From: Barnacleez
Here is my official declaration of joining the Guild:
These aren't the only possible ways to do have it. But in general I
try to stay pretty close. I'm sure some ships can have more or less of a
particular type of fighter, depending on their purpose.
I'm sure an increasing number of Calamari Cruisers are replacing
at least 1 squdron of Y-wings with a B-wing (depending on what time
period you are talking about).
I'm also sure that a few TIE Advanced are finding their way onto
Star Destroyers. This of course is dependent on the time period in which
you are playing. My personal preference is say maybe 6 TIE Advanced
per Star Destroyer; around the time of the battle of Endor. With the
number increasing as time goes on. But since they are expensive I don't
see more than 1 squadron (squadron = 12 ftr's) per STD. But let us not
exclude the possibility of specially equipped STD's..
If there is anything else you might want to know, just ask. I can
either look it up in the sources that I have or make speculations based on
what I know (educated guesses). Feel free to bounce ideas off my brain.

We cleared the area and secured it.
"Alpha team, four and three, move in." Two of my teams entered the
facility. There was several retorts from PPCs and my comline came on.
"Wilson here. We are receiving token resistance, sir. No deaths as of
yet." A sound of superheated air came over the line. Another voice came on.
"Correction, sir. Wilson's just bought the farm. Area is secure. And
sir, I think you'd better get in here. This place isn't a munitions depot.
Pi out."
I jumped off the truck and ordered my remaining men to hold tight. I ran
inside and switched on my shoulder light. The place stank of burnt metal and
hydraulic fluid. I hooked up with my teams, passing by some strange looking
endoskeletons. I met up with Pi and I could see over his shoulder that
Wilson wouldn't be coming back with us. He lay there, spread-eagled on the
ground with his head cocked up against the wall. The right side of his face
was blown away, apparently by a phased plasma blast. Blood and brain matter
clung around a scorch mark on the wall like a macabre mosaic. I
looked at Sergeant Pi and gave him the once-over.
"What did you mean about 'this place isn't a munitions depot?'"
Pi turned and motioned me to follow him into the next room. He stopped
at the doorway and pointed. "That's why." When I looked in, I knew he
wasn't lying.
Terminators were lined row upon row like soldiers for inspection.
Obviously, they were off-line. Otherwise, we would have had a one-sided fight
on our hands. The strange thing was, the plant was altering the T-800's.
Four arms, like gangly spider legs, were attaching new parts to the endos.
Black, reflective plating. Welding torches came down and sweep-welded the
plating into place. As the arms finished with one row, another set of arms
was bringing out another row of Terminators to be altered.
Mommy, where do Terminators come from? The cold, hard truth.
We had found a Terminator factory.
It continues....

Note: This is the original story told back in detail....
==============================================
(Sorry about the messed up spacing)
Morning on Phobos.
The guards sat at their posts outside the testing compound, hoping
something would happen sometime. Then something did.
The scientists inside the compound ran frantically for the
door, hoping to save themselves from the monstrous beats emerging
in groups of five from the gateway.
No one knew what had happened,
they had just teleported one of their human "subjects" in another
attempt to figure out what happed to the connection of the portals
on Phobos and Deimos. Every time something was sent through one end,
it never came out the other.
About 5 minutes later, all the people posted by the UAC to
Phobos watched in horror as the gateway site exploded, with thousands
of hellish creatures running from it. The creatures invaded the whole
moon and conquered it in just over two hours. A frantic communications
officer sent a message to the Mars base: "Help! For God's sake help!!!
Things are emerging from the gateway! Help us!!!" The rest of the
message was a jumble, but at the end a horrifying groan was heard, then
a scream, then silence.
The members of the Mars team assembled their weapons and armor
and launched their spacecraft into orbit within five hours of the
message. Halfway through the voyage to Phobos, Deimos simply dissapeared
from the sky in a large flash of green light. A proton wave from the
place of Deimos's earlier existence blew toward the vulnerable ship.
The ship turned towards it and set it's throttle on full. They came
careening into each other. The small vessel held it's own for a moment,
then came crashing down on Phobos.
After a desperate crash land, destroying most of the weapons,
18 humans emerged from the wreckage. They approached and entered the
closest building. 4 of them were forced to remain outside as guards
with pistols, while the others took the remaining heavy artillery
inside.
For a while, they listened on their radio to guns firing,
deathly screams, men yelling orders, and strage noises that could
not be deciphered. Then all was silent. The radio let off the soft
noise of static. Their buddies were dead. It was all up to them.
The four of them, armed with only pistols, entered the building
in search of survivors. As soon as they entered they heard the sounds
of aminal-like growls echoing down the distant corridors---
The aliens knew they were there. There's no turning back now.

From: B Blaze
I may not get this exactly right, but it was posted a while back in the
DOOM folder and I'm not wading through thousands of messages to find it:
The story begins when Id suddenly fails to respond to complaints and bug
reports people are posting. (Later they appoint Skywalkyr their AOL
contact.) Soon people start complaining about Id not answering their
complaints. Then somebody stops complaining and starts thinking. This is
what he came up with:
Most of you may not know this, but Id has not been answering your
complaints becuase they've been very busy working on VR-DOOM. Finishing up
the game after a hard day's work, one of the coders forgets to turn the
computer off. During the night the Id team has trouble getting to sleep. In
the morning they all find that each of them had the same exact dream of being
in VR-DOOM. And each one of them woke up at least once during the night
absolutely sure that they heard some sort of a demon noise. They have their
coffee and head towards the "lab" ready to put the finishing touches on the
game. As they enter the roomk, they are greeted with funiture thrown about,
claw marks on the wall, and the computer--still on. Wondering whether or not
to fire the maid, they hear a low, growling noise. Bright red eyes stare at
them from the dark shadows of the corners of the room. Before any of them
had time to react, four pink demons jump them, ripping at their flesh. As
they die in agony, their skulls being crushed to shards of blood-soaked bone,
one of them shouts, "Quick! Turn on the security cameras! This'll make a
great demo!..."
And from that night on, posts were coming in from all sorts of people
saying that they can hear demons in the night. (Yes, their computer was
turned off.)

Kent ducked as another laser zoomed overhead. Man the furballs where back.
The Spcace marines in Kents squad and company were holding but just barley
and soon they would loose all men and get killed and overrun by the kilrathi

1 of thier own died but the kilrathi had overwealming nunbers. Standing up
to shoot Kent was once again suprised that the Kilrathi were so bold as to
walk in a strait line to the battle and only when really close deploy. Aming
carefully Kent set the laser to full oato and shot in a strait line down the
kilrathi ranks. M any othe marines doing the same stopped the advance but
somehow the kilrathi Suddenly charged and Where coming to fast to kill or
slow. The marines still holding kept taking more and more of the Kilrathi
Marined down baut soon they where in the trenches. Kent Very good at close
fighing took out a furball because the cat ran strait in and Kent whipping
out his knife and stabbed him in the head. The Big cat killed dropped
heplessly and then anothe jup\ed on top of kent. Whipping around diverting
all the furballs weight and making the cat slam to the groung Kent Jabbed
with his knife and stabbed the cat in the heart. The Kilrathi trying to get
up staggered and fell as Kent hit the Knife in furthur. Noticing that his
comrades were not doing as well he came behind a kilrathi squaring off with a
marine shot the Kilrathi in the face as he turned around. Kent and his new
friend carged to the regrouping point that was forming. But as they got
close the Heard a debate going on. None of the marines even knew how to fly
and most wanted to stay. The CO(comanding Officer) said that we where to
board the Shuttle and leave. Kent because his parent where the only ones
with planes on Landric, his home planet, Kent had learned how to fly quite
well. All the marines boarded and Kent started the engins and gyros
spinning. The Marines that where still holding the line were now coming into
the plane and taking more seats. Taking off in the heavy gravity was hard
but getting people to leave the planet was ever harder. After all had been
setteled they took off. Leaving the planet the set course for Prerry Naval
base to report in and tell the navy of the situation. After landing the
marines where given a coice to stay on with the marine or to leave. Kent and
a few othe men decided to leave right off the bat. After a while the
Kid(that actulally turned out to be a girl) that kent had saved decided to
leave too. Kent getting all his saved money of about 500,000 credits bought
enough supplies to build the ultamate space/ship and what the ould earth
called tanks that were now very rare. Kent and this lady created a new kind
of fighing force and they called themselver the "FLYING SNAKES."

Well, today I will be posting up the reviews of 3 of my favorite movies of
all time. I would like to know if anyone would care for any more.
all time ranking:
1. Return of the Jedi. A fab movie. The special effects and the storyline are
great! The plot is decent and the battles at the end are fantastic. I enjoyed
the end when a battle was taking place on Endor, near the Death Star, and
between Luke and Darth Vader. The Jon Williams sound track is excellent. The
special effects really give the sense of a space battle. The battle on Endor
with the AT-ST walkers was superb. The greatest movie ever.

3. Star Wars. The beginning of a saga. The story line was the best one for
Star Wars. The special effects are 70's ish, but besides that it has a great
plot. Though the force and the voice of Old Ben was pretty stupid to say the
least. The Death Star attack was good with all the fighter pilots saying
stuff like "Stay on target" and getting their wingman and themselves blown
away from Darth Vader, a bland name.
Rating: 98/100
54. Demelotion Man. Horrible. Snipes starts killing all these people from the
year 2050 or so and they can't do anything about it because they are so weak.
Then they get Sly to take him out, but they leave bullets in the guns at a
museum! Who is that crazy. Then the mayor uses Snipes to go kill some radical
man who lives in the sewers. Can't they just flush him out? Then the ususal
people die and Sly kill Snipes. This is Trash!!!!!!!!
Rating 51/100

From: XWAce
Hey Ben and Tom!
I saw your posts on needing help for some X-Wing missions. It's been awhile
since I played wither of those missions but I will tell you chat I can.
Ben of TOD2M1 it's basically a test of accuracy. You need to eliminate the
transport that docks with the frieghter as fast as you can. Take out a few
TIEs on the way in. Be careful not to hit the freighter when attacking the
transport. This will only make it easier for the Imperial scum to kill your
frighter, which must survive the mission. After this it's mainly a shooting
gallery. Kill ships as quickly as you can and use your inflight map to make
sure none get by you. Remember the cardinal rule of Rebel training: Always
break engagements with TIE fighters to eliminate bombers. They can cause the
most damage in the least amount of time. It is your job to make sure they
cause none!
Tom, you said you were on TOD4M11. I wish I had better news for you, but you
are basically in the same boat as Ben. This mission took me awhile to
complete as well. You need accuracy and speed. Try to tail Y-Wings while
disabling them. This usually means slowing down to match speed. The easiest
way to do this is to hit the ] key to go to 2/3 throttle. The strategy of
disabling Y-Wing pairs in the hints provided with the game is great except
for one thing. It's not as easy as they make it seem! Many times the
matching pair is over 2 klicks away when you disable the first one. Also,
every other Y-Wing is between you and that other match! My strategy:
Disable them fast!
Need more help let me know!

I have the B-Wing Manager Version ??. It says has a module editor, to load
custom ships. I was wondering, what software do you need to write these
modules?
If any of you X-Wing junkees want to know more about TIE Fighter here's
some astonishing information. TIE fighter lets you train in all the Imperial
ships, including the Assalt Gunboat, TIE Fighter, TIE Intercepter, TIE
Bomber, TIE Advanced, and even a new custom ship, yet to be named! Hold on to
your hard drives, TIE Fighter takes up, get this, 45, you heard me, 45
MEGAbytes of your hard drive! If you want any sort of detail, get a real fast
micro-processor. With all that space taken up, your gonna' need warehouse
full of RAM, but maybe not. With all these new features, TIE Fighter is here
to stay! I predict that may add-ons are in it's future.
For all you people who think that TIE Demo is hard, I've beaten it
several times, but I don't know where to land. I read the "Read Me" file, and
it says that the CORVETTES are your mothership! If anybody would like 5-50
top ace\general pilots, I'll be glad to download them to you. If anybody has
any homemade TODs, please tell me how to get them, the other TODs are easy!
I'm currently working on a Warrior's Guild TOD, where you help rescue Terran
Space Confeteration Pilots, deliver Mechs to planets, to fight the Krathi,
and the Empire. If you know of any good stories, on Wing Commander or
X-Wing, tell ME!!!!!!

Subj: Finally my part 2.
Date: 94-03-25 09:43:45 EST
From: JURIJ
Here is the long awaited part 2 of my story. Enjoy it.
As jurij gazed into the fire he saw all of his crew members. Burning,
screaming, dying. He just couldn't take it anymore. Jurij pulled out his
blaster and shot the man in charge of the fire. But by then the crew
members were dead. "I must finish this mission for them." He thought to
himself. Jurij snuck to the back of the base. He walked down a path that
lead to the door. "State your business." A guard said. "I want to go
inside the base." jurij said. " No can do sir. You are unautherized."
"Here is my authorization." Jurij pulled out his blaster and shot the guard.
"All to easy jurij mumbled." He went up to the panel and opened the door.
" No need for this suit now." he said. Jurij put on his clothes. "Feels
good to be dressed like a rebel agian." he said. "Now where is that
generator? Probably where everybody would go if there was a meltdown. Or
at least a meltdown alarm went off.
Jurij snuck through the base. "Ahhhh. Here it is." Jurij pulled the
alarm throttle. "AOOOOOOO" the alarm was louder then expected. Jurij
ducked behind a crate while all the gaurds ran past him. When the last
guard went past him he followed them. He kept going to he saw a sign marked
generator room. Jurij ran behind a big machine and hid agian. "FALSE
ALARM. Search the area in case of more rebels. Somebody must have
triggered th alarm." shouted the guard. "Go back to your posts but be
catious." stated the gaurd. Now the troopers where all going back to their
posts. Once the last guard left jurij made his move. "Hah. Nobody here to
gaurd this thing." he thought. Jurij went inside the room. He took out the
bomb and placed it on the side of the generator. Just as he was about to
turn it on. "STOOOOOOP!" Shouted a man as many gaurds walked in. "I
wouldn't come closer if I was you" jurij stated. "I can set this thing to
go off any minute. And you wouldn't want that would you?" jurij said with
laughter. "Shooooootttttt him now" Shouted the man in charge. "You asked
for it." jurij said. THe gaurd were firing at jurij now. Jurij was shot many
times but he still turned on the bomb. "KABOOOOOOMM!!!!" the bomb went of.
But not before the rebellion could beam jurij onto their nearby rescue ship.
Get this man to sickbay. PRONTO. Jurij was amefiatly taken to sickbay. He
lived fortunately. A few weeks later. "Jurij?" "Yes sir" shouted jurij as
he got out of the sickbay. "Very good job back there." stated Cptn.
Kerner. "You must report to lobby seven at ttwohundred hours. Dress
properly." Said the cptn. as he walked away. "yes sir." jurij said. Thhen
at two hundred hours jurij walked into the lobby. "Come forward jurij.
Here is the platinum ring of hoth. Wear it with honor. It is for an
outstanding job at that base. This is a award of the highest honor a pilot
can get." "Thank you mam." said jurij. The crowd started to cheer. Then
the part began. Jurij knew that hee did a great job and that he should be
proud of himself. Know he knows wich side he wants to be on. THE REBELLION.
THE END.
This story was about a young pilot named JURIJ. (sound familiar) It shows
his struggle on the side of the rebellion and how he feels about it. At
times he may have doubts but at other times he knows he is on the right side.
I hope you enjoyed my past stories and this one. I will try to get one out
every week if possible. For those of you who believe that you can't write a
long or even short story just try it. Time really goes by fast when you are
writing. Plus you can creat your own universe where what you want happens.
Enjoy

Subj: Wrath of Starka
Date: 94-03-25 22:14:26 EST
From: GameJackal
General Starka sat in his dingy cell on the prision world of SylusVII.
An Imperial General, he had been taken prisioner during the Rebel's raid on
the moon of Endor. He was left to die by both the Alliance and the Empire,
or so he thought.
Starka was just nodding off when a stormtropper blasted open the lock on
the door of Starka's cell. Starka fell of his rock hard cot and landed on
the floor with a ressounding thud.
He looked up and saw this stormtropper pointing his gun at him.
"Are you Gerneral James Starka?" inquiered the stormtropper.
"Yes."
Subj: Wrath of Starka2
Date: 94-03-25 22:27:09 EST
From: GameJackal
James Starka and the stormtroppers ran to the transport waiting for them
on the surface of SylusVII. Starka wondered why the Imperials had suddenly
become interested in him again. Could it be because of Gulgatha? No, no!
They must have found that by now. The engines kicked over and the transport
lifted into the air, breaking free of the planet's gravatationall force.
"What has happened?" asked Starka, "What has happened since my
imprisionment?"
No answer. Starka figured that he would be fully briefed when he
arrived, wherever they were going. Starka turned his head and looked out of a
porthole and suddenly, out of hyperspace, arrived four X-wing starfighters!
"My lord!" yelped Starka, "Look! X-wings!"
Several seconds later, a squad of TIE fighters and TIE Inerceptors
arrived. Starka peered out the little porthole waiting for the battle to
begin. All this over little ol' me, thought Starka.
To be continued in missions for the X-wing simulator.
May the Force be with you.

________________________________________________
The current v1 and v2 demos are conceptual engines only. They do not
properly represent the game. The v3 will be much closer to the actual game
and will release in 2-3 weeks. The game itself should release at the end of
April at current estimate. The floppy and cd-rom versions will release
simultaneously. The cd-rom version will have better sound and animation and
have a 24 meg intro vs. 1 1/2 megs on the floppy. You will be able to
construct you mech to your specs and play via modem or serial link. We will
also have add-on disks for additional mechs, and possible mission sets.

Subj: Achieving Recognition
Date: 94-03-26 02:05:10 EDT
From: Highlan332
I want to address those of you who are seeking recognition for your
efforts, especially by being inducted into the Stellar Guard. Some of you
have been contributing great stories, but that recognition is not about how
much you write, it is about attitude. XWAce did not get that title by
writing alone, he got it because of his responsive attitude. I said "jump"
and he said "how high!" Some members of this club contribute in order to
benefit the club and share of themselves. Others contribute only in an
effort to be rewarded and I don't like that. From time to time, I post
messages in the club folder asking for specific material. I do this in an
effort to keep the posts diverse. As they say, variety is the spice of life.
Several weeks ago, I saw that there wasn't much fiction in the folder, so I
posted a message asking for more. The post wasn't a big deal- no pleading
or making a huge issue of it, and then I waited. To their credit, Echo Six ,
Ace and Hotwire came through. I asked, they responded, and the club was
enriched by their efforts. Then came XWAce with his 2,436-word story. He
wasn't rewarded because he wrote a story, he was rewarded because I pointed
out a shortcoming in the club and he met it with a monumental effort...
Since that time, many members have produced good stories. Should they
all be made Stellar Guardsman? No. Some members are posting these stories
so that you and I have the benefit of reading them. XWAce is among these,
since he is already a Guardsman. Some other members are posting stories ONLY
in an effort to achieve a title. They are barking up the wrong tree.
What gets someone into the Stellar Guard is attitude. It's helping the
club out for the sake of improving the Guild, not because you want a new
title. It's responding to my posts without a lot of pushing. It's looking
for new and innovative ways to help out. It's also patience and contributing
over the long haul.
It is extremely important to remember that the Guild is only ONE MONTH
OLD! It seems like some members are expecting a lot of recognition, as if
they had been in the club for years. Most members haven't even been a member
for a month, yet they expect to have earned lots of titles already. That's
just not realistic. Ranks and titles aren't going to mean anything if they
are handed out. The ranks of the Stellar Guard are always going to be small
compared to the rest of the club, or it won't be worth anything.
Does this mean that you shouldn't contribute stories? Certainly not. I
monitor all communications closely and keep a detailed Guild chart. I know
who has posted, when, and how large the posts were. I see who contributes
files and what they are. I read the stories, enjoy the posts and fiddle with
the files. Keep up the good work, do your best, and recognition will come
with time :-)

It is my honor to announce the induction of two new members to the

He has posted several stories that he worked hard on. He has posted 25 times
and has worked to recruit members! Most importantly, he has maintained an
extremely positive attitude and constantly works hard to be responsive to
Guild needs. All this and, at 12, he is our youngest member!
Sergeant Major Whitehawk is only 13 years old, yet he has more posts
than anyone else in this club (myself not included). He, too, has shared his
stories with us and has maintained a positive attitude.
Sergeant Major Whitehawk and Senior Chief Jurij, I welcome you both to
the Stellar Guard and award you the platinum ring you so richly deserve.
To the other members of the club, I hope that these young members
inspire you. If members this young can make such efforts, the older members
should be able to do even better. Most importantly, they show a positive
attitude and really care about the club.
Other members are being considered for this honor and will receive it in
the future. Some members simply haven't been in the club long enough. The
ranks of the Guard will always be small, but I will continue to review the
records regularly, to see who is really TRYING, who is doing their very best.
Good luck, all.

Subj: Starfighter Compliments
Date: 94-03-26 02:08:16 EDT
From: Highlan332
I saw Senior Chief Barnacleez' posts regarding the starfighter
compliments of the various capital ships in the Star Wars universe. What an
interesting article! It is always intriguing to learn specifics about the
vessels we battle in the X-Wing game. I only have the old version of the
Star Wars role playing game and ships are not dealt with in this detail.
I am curious where West End Games got their information. It's always
risky to give too much credit to any one source, since there is a lot of
fictional material that lists different statistics. The X-Wing Strategy
Guide, for instance, lists a wing as three squadrons, while the Star Wars
Sourcebook lists it as six squadrons. Still, the West End Games material is
comprehensive and a great source of information. Thanks for sharing it with
us, Barnacleez.

In previous posts, I have stated that you should announce new game
purchases, so that I can keep up with the games you own and see that you
receive any distributed files. Well, I recently got three new games.
Space Hulk- I had ordered this game but the distributor was out of
stock. While looking through the discount rack at the software store, I
found a copy for $18. I haven't had a chance to install it yet but will
soon.
Skyfox II- I found this one in the same discount rack. It was marketed
by Slash but it is originally a 1988 Dynamix game. Apparently, Slash buys
old games and then redistributes them. I didn't expect much from this one
but it is nice to feel a little nostalgia. Playing older games makes you
appreciate current technology. The game is EGA and doesn't support sound
cards, but it was dirt cheap and the story and missions show intelligent
planning.
Protostar: War on the Frontier- My wife brought this one home for me.
It's pretty good and is similar to Privateer. You travel around in a
starship trading and gathering materials to sell. You use the money to
upgrade your ship and channel funds to Newfront, a sort of resistance group
fighting to defend Earth from the Skeetch Empire. It's sure tough to get
enough money!
Remember to keep me posted regarding any new games you buy.

Jedi Search by Kevin J. Anderson
Volume 1 of the Jedi Academy Trilogy
In this book Luke now considers himself to be a Jedi Master, and heis
attempting to start a new order of Jedi Knights. One of the strong points of
the book is a further look into the past of the empire. Where I think this
book fails is the weak method of providing the story more adversaries, but I
will not reveal anymore. This book came out in paperback first and is
definitely worth picking up or at least borrowing from a friend.

The new ships that Kent created in his story of life as a pilot, marine, and
inventor. The first one of these ships is the CHARGER, It is a heavy
fighter, cargo ship, Has the frame of a ferret exept much bigger and
streathened wing so they can hold missles. On the top 2 wings it has 2 mace
missles on each wing. On the bottom it has 2 dumfire and 2 image
recognition. The CHARGER on the tips of the wings has taceon cannons and on
the fron there are 2 mass drivers. The second ship is the devastator
Light/attack fighter. This has the same frame as a Wraith bit smaller and
its front weapons are 2 taceon cannons. Only the top wings can hold missles
and the missles they hold are 2 dumb-fire and 2 Javilin Heatseakers. These
fighters are not real in any game and only apply to this story unless sombody
wants to use these fighters in his/her story.

Kent taking 18 moths to make the new Devastator class Light fighter and the
CHARGER finally finished and tested. After giveing copys of the bule prints
to the confederation to see if extra money and help for for the war could be
achieved through this venture Kent rapidly agreed to the Confeds wishes for
the desighn. Heading towards a New Agricultural planet In his ship and
another peson he had recruted to fly the Devastator to thid planet loaded
with Iorn and othe metals so this would could have more stable structures on
the ground. About half way there the radars of the 2 ships picked up 4
Mafia, Drug lord ships on the scope. Kent moving in closer to his escort to
have better protection and look like a single targe the Enemy Ship bored down
on the 2 ships. At a range of about 3000 Meters both the Charger and The
Devastator sent a volley of tacheon and massdriver twards the other ships.
One of the enemy ship belw bacause of taceons and Mass driver blowing through
the shields and destroying the cockpit and the man inside. Anothe caught by
a dumfire misle in the center belew because of shield overload. The 2 other
ships tried to turn and get on the Chargers tail and then the more
menuverable Devastator turned and sent 2 Javilin missle at one ship
destroying it and sending a almost continual stream of Tacheon cannons right
at the side of the demon ship that had its long wings out of the shields and
the missles blew on the racks of the ship leaving the ship adrift and without
power because resulting explosion had destroyed the engines. The CHARGER
tractored the ship in and dragged it along to ask the pilot why he attacked
them. After aking the pilot why Kent turned him over to the officals. Kent
finding out that the furballs wanted kents new ship either destroyed or in
thier hands to prevent the confeds from getting the dsighn and improving on
them so they could gain the upper hand in the new ships of kents design...

DOOM is scary!

From: Barnacleez
Echo Six: You aren't the only one who gets scared playing doom. When I first started playing I jumped at everything. The scariness of the game can be attributed to the realism. And if you have just stared playing you have not seen anything yet. For a real good scare I suggest playing episode 2.
I can't help but tell you about "the Barons". They're big, they're bad, they're loud, and all they want to do is rip your head off. You'll see them at the end of episode one, but for some reason they seem harder to kill in episode two. Not because it takes more shots to kill them in episode 2, it's just that the rooms you find them in do not always leave you with many choices.
One time I tried to run from a Baron, I got away or so I thought. Bumped into him in a completely different part of the maze. That scared the crap out of me! Another thing I should warn you about is that you can hear them roaring all the time.
If you have not yet seen them I suggest you keep it that way. Delete DOOM from your HD immediately. Once you face a Baron you'll be a changed man. For some of us it is already to late. Learn from us and save yourself! While you still can.

Hey GameJackal, I liked the way you introduced your upcoming
missions (Wrath of what's his name) with a story. I look forward to your
missions and to how the story will unfold in them.
George Lucas himself has said that special effects are meaningless
without a story. I tend to use that philosophy in making X-wing missions.
Hey, if you just wanted to blast TIE's then you'd just keep playing the same
ToD's over and over. The story is what makes blasting TIE's fun.
Good luck in making your missions and keep us posted on your
progress. And if you want any advice from a fellow mission creator feel free

I feel like I have to respond to Polar On's review of Star Wars. A
dedicated Star Wars geek like myself cannot allow such remarks to pass
unabated. Here's what Polar said:
========
========
Are you trying to say that the Force and Ben are "stupid"? The whole
saga is based on the force! Although, personally, I don't agree with the
"new
age-ishness" of the force, as a central theme of the SW universe it can't be
called stupid.
The special effects are 70's -ish because the film was made in the 70's.
Darth Vader, arguably the single greatest super villain of all time.
He's
powerful, he breathes really loud, he has a cool voice, a cool weapon, he can
kill a man with the ("stupid") force. A bland name? Darth Vader is a bland
name? It is a good thing he is not around to hear you say that.
You have to understand where I am coming from. Star Wars came out
when I was 5. I played with the toys (still have most of them). I've seen
the
movies far too many times for my own good. I know the SW universe just
as well as anyone. I am part of the Star Wars generation. I'd be letting
good ole Darth down if I didn't at least say something about the review.

Since this is a science fiction folder, could I post my theory about the

wouldn't go there, it has nothing to do about any type of God. I guess I'll
post it here. (Don't you love having self-conversations.)
How big is the space that our galaxy is in? It's infinite, right? That
means that there's enough room for another galaxy. There ARE other galaxies.
Scientists proved that already. But HOW MANY other galaxies? Well, since
there's enough room for an infinite number of galaxies, there MUST be an
infinite number of galaxies. You can't have an infinite ammount of space
with only a few thousand galaxies. Since there are an infinte number of
galaxies, an infinte number of things can happen in each galaxy an infinte
number of times. Therefore, there are an infinte numbre of galaxies EXACTLY
like ours. There are an infinte number of galaxies EXACTLY like ours except
this folder is called "/// WARRIORS GUILB \\\." There are an infinte number
of galaxies EXACTLY like ours except the pixel in the upper-left hand corner
of my screen is bright red and is one mile long. There are an infinte number
of galaxies EXACTLY like the one I just described except thw word "mile" is
spelled "alkksiiowgnmfg" which is pronounced like "neon." ANYTHING you can
imagine HAS to occur an infinte number of times. (And anything you can't
image too.) So the next time you suddenly feel like you were Adolf Hitler in
a previous life, you actually WERE Adolf Hitler in a previous life--an
infinte number of times. We all were. My computer was. And Hitler was my
computer. I could go on like this, but listing everything I could imagine
would take a while.

In answer to Dark Fact, the new Mercenary Guild:3055 discusses some of the
Battle Armor imployed by the Inner Sphere. Other than Wolf's Dragoons who
are clanners, only the Grey Death's Legion is effectively using Battle Armor
as the Clan Elementals are significantly KC when compared to Inner Sphere
Battle Armor troops.. As for the 3076 dateline, if you read the Intellignce
Manaul for the Inner Sphere, it clearly implies that the next set of battles
would be using the spies. Why don't they write about the spies? Also, to
the story with the Dragons, I got the impression they where Aerospace
Fighters. If this is a battletech story, Dargons are Battlemechs wothout

In the game, you pilot a Raven tank against the forces of Gir Draxon. It is action packed and fast paced. My only complaint is that you canÆt save the game in between levels. You fight straight through. In that sense, it is more arcade game than sim.

12 interceptors. Fly directly at either group and you'll swear you were in
the movie! After you eliminate these they launch in waves of nine each.
Meaning when you destroy the fighters, nine more launch, the interceptors
nine more. So you have at least ten fighters after you at any one time. I
played this mission for about half an hour and they were still coming so I
don't know how many there are. Oh, the mission is complete immediately so
that you can quit at anytime.
The seond mission is a unique mission in that you must CAPTURE the STD
Enterprise. You arrive with 6 B-Wings. You are in an X-Wing. There is a
fighter escort of something like 5 TIE Advanced, 3 fighters, bombers and
interceptors. The STD jumps into a minefield. After you disable the STD a
Corvette jumps in to capture it. This is NOT an easy mission. Lot's of fun
though!
The third mission is based on Privateer. Alpha Squadron is in your sector
and they have a lot of captured ships of both Rebel and Imperial origin,
including two frigates. Your Mission: Make sure they leave with nothing!
You must destroy all the Privateer's ships.
Enjoy!

Kent was somehow being sucked in twards the lead ship. After docking by a
strange suction device kent and he noticed the pilot of the devastator being
herded towards a door. After waiting in some kind of a brig a man appeared.
The man was aproxamatly 7' 2" and extremly strong. Motioning for Kent and
the devastator pilot to sit he seemed to study us very closely. The he said,
"I am Jacop from the clan Jade Falcon. Who are you and where did you come
from?"
"my name is Kent Klinemen and this," motining to the other pilot
is,"Robert Close, we are from the Terran Confederation."
Jacop then said," We are racing for a planet in this solar syestem that is
unexplored but so is an innerspere house called house Kurta. We were a head
of them at the last jump point but they seemed to leave just before us. Then
we appeared here and saw your ships and shot a grappling laser at you to
bring you here."
"Why are you and these other race running for one of our planets in such
haste?" I said.
"Because it is roumored to have an advanced tecnological race on it witch
must be you and your kind."Jacop said.
"Why do you not wait for them to take it over then attack it? you pertty
oviusly have a tecnological advantage over them." I said.
"We and the Kurta have a tretie that prevents us from fighting with each
other." Jacop said.
All of a sudden seirens erupted all around and looking out the window you
could see why. 2 Terran XConfederation ships appeared in front of the ship
that kent and robert where in. "Don't worry about them they are on our
side!" Kent Yelled above the racket.

You might wonder exactly what Spac Rouge is about. Well I thought I'd tell
you...........................
The ship you serve aboard, the Princess Blue moves in Nav through the Karonus
system. The sensors beep and you check the readouts. "Captain Delfrey",you
say,"I've detected a ship not to far away".You wait a few minutes until the
ship comes within visual range. A Scow. A Sunracer class Scow.
"All right Private," Delfrey starts "it's your first cruise. Go out their and
check it out."You walk to the airlock ,reluctently. You don your Vacc-Suit
and leave the ship. You float out of the
airlock, looking at the apparantly dead ship. Trying to relax, you thrust
over to the derelict ship. You near the derelict and read the
nameplate: THE JOLLY ROGER it says. You open the airlock and enter. You walk
to the command console. Thrusters: Functional. Life Support: Functional.
Foreward Garnet Laser: Functional Memory Banks: Intact. What went wrong?
You peer out the viewport only to see two Manchi Vultures zoom by and blast
the Princess Blue to shards. The Manchi ignore your derelict and whizz off as
mysteriously as they had arrived.
You are alone in a strange ship, no clear goal, execpt survival.
Pretty Neat,huh?

Yeah, but in Battletech, the machine guns only do 1 point of damage per shot
fired. That would be 40 points in one round, pretty respectable, huh??
